WELCOME TO THE SAMFANS LIST!

This list is owned by Sidney Boardman (owner-samfans@samfans.org) 

Samfans is a list for anyone who breeds, exhibits, owns, wants to own, used
to own, enjoys and/or is interested in the Samoyed breed of dog. 

This list is meant to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, advice,
and information regarding the Samoyed, including general information about
the breed, rescue, training, health issues specific to or common in the 
breed, conformation, obedience, mushing, therapy, agility, weight pull, 
packing and any other Samoyed activity. This list is an excellent place 
to make contacts and friendships within the breed and get to know breeders. 

Although most of the discussion centers on our dogs, we are an open and
friendly list, with a large and varied group of subscribers and topics.
Because our dogs are part of our lives, our lives are sometimes discussed
on this list. Sometimes the volume of mail is large.

The Rules: 

The list owner reserves the right to remove anyone from the list at any
time for any reason, either personally, or through someone she's chosen to
act for her. 

Advertising to buy or sell animals of any kind, and especially dogs or puppies is
not allowed and is cause for immediate removal from the list. Culling email
addresses from the list to use to send advertisements of any kind is spamming 
and is cause for immediate removal from the list.

Sending attachments to the list at any time for any reason is cause for
immediate removal from the list. Including an attachment as part of a
message is the same as sending an attachment.

Please contact Sidney (owner-samfans@samfans.org) if you have pictures, cursors,
programs, html code, encrypted messages or anything else other than plain
text to share, or if you have plain text in larger amounts than will be
accepted by the server. She will help you. Do not simply send the things to
her - please contact her first so she can open up room on her hard disk. <G>

All fundraising on the list must be cleared by the list owner beforehand. 
Fundraisers must follow certain rules which are available from the list owner 
by emailing owner-samfans@samfans.org

Personal flames, directed at anyone on list or or off the list is not
allowed. Advertising of any sort is strongly discouraged. Forwarding to or from the list is unwelcome. Announcements 
of Samoyed-related club functions and fundraisers are welcome but please 
check with the list-owner first.   Profanity is discouraged, but not 
prohibited.   You are encouraged to use the filters in your email program 
and your delete key freely if you object to any thread, topic, discussion 
or choice of words.

The best way to stop a flame war is to ignore it and not comment on it. 

Please do not send virus announcements, chain letters, copyrighted material 
you do not have written permission from the author to use or advertising to 
the list, or any message that tells you to send it to everyone you know. 

Most subscribers indicate off-topic, humour and "dog chat" posts in the
subject line.

   By posting to Samfans, you are giving the owner permission to
include that message in the archives of the list and in the Samfans 
FAQ's and the compilation copyright to them.

Sidney and the subscriber him or herself are the only
persons able to unsubscribe someone from the list. This is not a moderated
list.   You are encouraged to use your email filters and delete key to deal
with topics and discussions that do not interest you. If you do not know
how to use email filters, please use the help command in your email software.

Welcome to the Samfans Mailing List

   Samfans is an email list, running on software which asks list users to
divide their interaction with the list into two categories: e-mail posts to
the list itself and requests regarding the mechanics of the list. Each
category has it's own e-mail address. 

   In order to post messages to the list, address your e-mail to:
	SAMFANS@SAMFANS.ORG
This address is the same for posts to both Samfans and to the Samfans
digest. Please do not send commands to this address. They will not work.

Requests to subscribe and unsubscribe are sent in the form of e-mail commands to:

	MAJORDOMO@SAMFANS.ORG

There are two Samfans lists, individual posts and collections of
posts called digests. Both versions will contain exactly the same posts;
you may only subscribe to one from a particular email address.

If you ever need to get in contact with the owner of the list,
(if you have trouble unsubscribing, or have questions about the
list itself) send email to <owner-samfans@samfans.org> .
This is the general rule for most mailing lists when you need
to contact a human.

If you mailbox is full or has crashed, and mail is bounced back to the list
software, you will be automatically unsubscribed to protect the list. You
need to empty your mailbox or contact your ISP to get your mailbox running
again. Then resubscribe. The list administrator cannot help you with your
mailbox. If you are on AOL, that is your ISP.
